Daddy's Girl
When I was small you picked me up,
You held me tight, consoled my fright.
You made me laugh by tickling me
By talking weird like "thouest thee"
By hanging socks from both your ears
And sticking your tongue thru napkins
And most of all, you made me smile by imitating me....
When I was young you picked me up
You taught me well, as most could tell
Like how to pray and act and live
And how to share and how to give
When I grew up you picked me up
And dusted off the broken stuff
You always love and always care
Even when I've made it tough
You showed me how to really love
By loving Mom and us kids
But the biggest way was when you showed me how I should forgive.
You prepared me for my husband
And taught me how to be loved
Of all the things you sent my way
I'm most grateful for His blood.
And even now, you pick me up
You're always there, with steady love
On rotten days you tell me jokes
And build me up with words
And help me see the funny part
Of whatever life incurs.
Our never-ending pun contest is my favorite. :)
I love you, TAD!
